We recently had the opportunity to work with photographer Dan Scherber and his wife Heather, who helps run Derrek Lee's 1st Touch Foundation. Derek Lee is a professional baseball player (Chicago Cubs) who was raised the Sacramento area (El Camino High School graduate) and is a firm believer in giving back to the community. The foundation held an event called Strikes for Kids at Strikes in Elk Grove (which is an incredible bowling alley, by the way), to raise money for St. John's Shelter, a terrific organization that works with homeless women and children to "advance from a point of crisis to a position of self-sufficiency." We heard many inspiring stories from women helped by their program and were honored to be a part of the event.
And...while our focus at the event was to capture the spirit of giving present throughout the day, Jason certainly enjoyed "working" with so many professional athletes and local celebrities. We highly recommend you checking out this event next year.
