Jeff and Darby were married on July 9, 2011 at
Forest House Lodge in Foresthill, CA on a perfectly beautiful summer weekend. This was no ordinary wedding for us as Jeff is one of Jason's cousins so we were lucky enough to experience their wedding both as guests and photographers. DETAILS...One of my very favorite things about weddings is the details - the colors, the flowers, the attendants' gifts, the favors - every wedding detail represents what each unique couple is all about. From stunning crystal toasting flutes to custom hangers for handmade, handpicked bridesmaid robes every detail of Jeff and Darby's wedding reflected the love they have for each other and their friends and family.
THE BRIDE AND GROOM...these two are very special to us. Obviously, Jason has known Jeff (his cousin) since Jeff was born and I had the pleasure of meeting him almost 17 years ago - Jeff was 12. In the last 17 years we've known Jeff as an awkward pre-teen, a dramatic teenager, a confident young adult and ultimately a mature, loving man. We've shared lots of good times at family functions, on family vacations and of course at many "cousins' nights."
As I'm trying to think back to when exactly we met Darby, it's difficult to pinpoint as now it seems that Darby has always been there. As cheesy as it sounds, Darby completes Jeff - they just fit. They are alike in so many ways yet compliment each other in their differences.
Fun-loving and serious, romantic and real, idealistic and pragmatic - these two will be together forever.
THE FIRST LOOK...We highly recommend a first look for many reasons but we can't promise that every first look will be as special as this one. I love that the bride and groom get a few private moments together before the big event. Of course, I love that we get more time to photograph the bride and groom together. But this first look was even more special because of Jeff's surprise for Darby - I'm not sure of the exact story (my memory is failing me as usual) but what I do know is that Jeff went to great lengths to have a very special ring recreated for Darby and surprised her with it at their first look. It was such a sweet and tender moment!
LOVE, LOVE this one. That smile says, "All I want to do is make you happy!" I know because I get the same smile from his cousin.
