Anukina & Daniel - Married

What a wonderful wedding and I am so lucky to get to relive it as I process all of their images. The day started as most weddings do with the bride and bridesmaids paying careful attention to their makeup, hair, accessories, dresses...and the groom and his men hanging out until it was finally time to don their suits. We had some beautiful December weather for formals then headed back to the bride's house for an exciting and at the same time moving Assyrian tradition including fantastic music, a house full of dancing and the best man bribing the gatekeeper (read bride's cousin) to take the bride to the wedding.

As if the day could get any better, Anukina and Daniel's ceremony was perfectly beautiful, at times humorous, reverent and the perfect prelude to a reception where everyone, young and old, shy and bold had a great time dancing the night away.

All in all, the perfect first day of the new chapter in Anukina and Daniel's life together. We're so thankful and honored to have been invited to be a part of it all.

Enjoy!

Anukina & Daniel - Teaser

I have an internal rule that I post one, just one, teaser image from weddings while I am processing the images. Well, as they say, rules are meant to be broken. I couldn't pick just one from this amazing wedding. So here are three to tide you over for a week or so while I continue to process.

If you know this couple and you were there for the big day you already know how amazing it was - a wonderful combination of love, tradition and fun - and if you don't know them or you weren't there, you'll want to stay tuned because there are many great images to come.

For now...enjoy!

And That's a Wrap

Last year as we looked back on our holiday shooting season we decided to cut off sessions at the week before Thanksgiving because we felt that shooting on Thanksgiving was cutting it too close for Christmas. However, I had a few families call and ask specifically for that weekend for very good reasons. These families are our last three posts of the holiday season. One family wanted their baby to be a little bigger for family photos and two families needed to choose a time when their college-age kids would be home. And so, next year's plan was born...Thanksgiving Weekend, 2010 - Home for the Holidays Family Sessions.

This beautiful family was the perfect end to a great holiday shooting season. They have a beautiful home that was the perfect setting to capture their family portraits. I may sneak in at a later date if I'm desperate for a location...shh...don't tell them.

We had a great time with them and though it was a bit chilly I think they had some fun too. Jason got to talk a little football, I didn't fall in the pool, I'm pretty sure we were caught on videotape by their cinematic son and, oh yeah, we got some great images too...

Enjoy!

Special Time of Year

We had the pleasure to photograph this family the Saturday after Thanksgiving. They were so gracious, as they were hosting family for the holiday, yet welcomed us into their house to allow us to capture some images of them. Seeing them interact with their family reminded us what this time of year is all about. Being thankful for the wonderful blessings we have in our lives.

There's No Place Like Home

The morning we photographed this wonderful family, the winds were howling through Sac at 30 miles per hour. I was sure a witch on a bike was going to cruise by at any time, yet these troopers braved the elements to get some fantastic images. It was a great morning.
